Sablet, Provence Sablet Village Sablet is a small, quiet hilltop village nestled at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmiral. It's round construction, built around the 14th century church, is a pleasure to explore.
Enjoy a stroll around the village, stop for coffee in the bar or lunch in one of 3 restaurants. quality and the reknowned villages of Gigondas, Chateauneuf du Pape, Rasteau and Seguret are just minutes away. Walkers and mountain bikers will not be disappointed with the paths and tracks of the Dentelles de Montmirail, just a few minutes walk from the village. Unlike many other small villages, Sablet is lucky to have a number of shops right in the centre of the village. There are 2 bakers, 2 hairdressers, 2 grocers, a butcher, a bar that also serves food at lunchtime, 2 restaurents, a bank with cash machine and more. Everything you need and all walking distance from La Saugie.
Sablet also has it's own Tourist Office doubling as a Caveau selling all the wine from the local Vineyards. You can taste some of the wines here too. And... each year on the third weekend in July, Sablet hosts the "Journee de Livre" - one of the largest book fairs in France outside Paris. The village is transformed with marquees covering every available space in the central square and over 120 authors sell their books with signed inscriptions. |
